Have The Honeymoon of a LIFETIME in Greece

December 6, 2021 by An Ion Creative Leave a Comment

Have the Honeymoon of a Lifetime in Greece

Your honeymoon will be one of the most memorable experiences of your life. So why not make it the trip of a lifetime? Celebrate your wedding in style with a romantic honeymoon trip to gorgeous Greece. Because there is something utterly captivating about Greece and the Greek islands. The simple beauty, the sun-kissed beaches, the mythology, the rich history, superb natural landscapes, and the dazzling light! So we’ve sourced all the best options for dining, seeing, and doing in all the top spots in Greece from beautiful beaches to a dazzling city.

Athens

We’re starting our tour in Athens, the glorious capital city of Greece. Here you’ll be able to soak up the history and dine like royalty. This town was the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. And, today, the city is still dominated by awesome 5th-century BC landmarks, such as the Acropolis, and the Parthenon temple. Think of the amazing selfies you all can take against this stunning backdrop. You’ll absolutely adore all the brightly colored buildings with red tiles roofs.

Where to Eat

Hytra is a fine dining restaurant with amazing options for both food and wine. They are well known for their exceptional service and amazing tasting menu. And, their options are reasonably priced. Hytra is located on a beautifully designed rooftop terrace with a view of the Acropolis.

If you are looking for some delicious authentic Greek food, we suggest Miandros. This charming coffee restaurant has a reputation for traditional dishes and an intimate, cozy atmosphere that spills out to a lovely patio. Conveniently, Miandros is located in the historical part of Athens. Plus, they offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Keep in mind Miandros becomes a hotspot starting at 6 P.M. with a live band and an amazing drink selection, so you can plan a fun evening out here as well.

What to See & Do

You can’t visit Greece without feeling the incredible sense of history. You are surrounded by gorgeous reminders of the past. And you can find a treasure trove of historic sites in one place at the Acropolis, the most famous citadel in all of Greece. Located on a rocky outcrop high above the city of Athens, the Acropolis is a symbol of the city’s former glory, recalling the culture that flourished more than two millennia ago. This site contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historical significance. Here you will find the Parthenon, The Temple of Athena Nike, The Acropolis Museum, and many other jaw-dropping windows into the past. It’s a must-see for your honeymoon!

Located within the Acropolis, The Parthenon is arguably one of the most iconic examples of classical architecture in the world. The temple is dedicated to the patron goddess of the city, Athena. Construction on the Parthenon started way back in 447 BC, so it is absolutely incredible that it still stands. You can’t actually walk inside the interior due to its fragile state, but you can still gaze at its wonder and take photos of the exterior. One-day tickets to the Parthenon, including the entire Acropolis site, cost just $22 per person. Score!

Galazia Akti is a private beach located on an island right outside of Athens. There are a couple of beach bars, fish shacks, and beach volley courts where amateurs and former pros play all day long. The sand is thin and the water is shallow and calm so you can frolic in the sea without a care in the world. This gorgeous beach, also known as Blue Bay, is a popular destination for celebrities so you might find yourselves lounging next to someone famous. So don’t miss out on this little mini oasis since it is so close to Athens.

Santorini

Santorini is one of the most dazzling islands in all of Greece. Part of the Cyclades islands in the Aegean Sea, Santorini is a well-loved tourist destination and the perfect place to honeymoon. With its reputation for awe-inspiring panoramas, romantic sunsets, and volcanic-sand beaches, it’s hardly surprising Santorini is so popular.

Where to Eat

Metaxi Mas is one of the best restaurants in Santorini. Hidden away on an intimate terrace, this restaurant can be hard to find. But like all hidden gems it is well worth the trouble to find this elusive spot.

The food and wine are high quality but also unbelievably affordable. A meal at this family-owned spot with traditional Greek food and friendly staff is a must.

What to See & Do

Are you foodies? Love to enjoy a glass of vine? If so we recommend spending at least one day on Santorini taking a food and wine tour. You’ll be immersed in the history and processes of making traditional dishes (and wines!) of the region. Plus, you’ll get to visit the most beautiful vineyards and see inside the kitchens of the locals. Try Safowi, the best option for discerning honeymooners who want an in-depth experience of the best of Santorini’s food and wine scene.

And for the best thing to do on Santorini, well all you need to do is open your eyes and take in all the awe-inspiring views. One of the most popular sights in Santorini is the blue and white houses on the clifftop.

The Heart of Santorini is a hidden treasure that is worth making a visit to. Mother Nature somehow carved a heart on the side of a caldera, a formation from a volcano eruption. It is such a romantic place for honeymooners to pose for photos.

Another hidden gem is the Bay of Ammoundi. The postcard-pretty Bay is home to a dock, restaurants, and a romantic hidden swimming hole. The Bay offers many fresh seafood options from local fishermen and restaurants. But if you are up for an adventure though you may want to try out the donkey rides.

Mykonos

Honeymooners looking for a good time need to make plans to visit Mykonos, another picturesque island on the Aegean Sea. This absolutely beautiful island is the perfect place to live your best life with gorgeous scenery, a party atmosphere, and delicious food.

Where to Eat

Phos Restaurant is a special restaurant with breathtaking scenery and delicious Greek & Mediterranean dishes. This is a place bathed by natural sunlight and surrounded by natural beauty. You’ll feel as if you are on a luxurious, polished sailboat. Because everything resembles the deck of a yacht. Dine here for an exquisite journey of the senses. A journey of tastes, aromas, sounds, textures, and mesmerizing images. See why they were awarded the 2021 Traveler’s Choice Award 2021 by Trip Advisor.

What to See & Do

If you love a party you’ve come to the right island. Beaches such as Paradise and Super Paradise have bars that play great music. Massive dance clubs attract world-renowned DJs and typically stay open well past dawn.

Check out the windmills, which are among the most recognized landmarks of the island and one of the most famous Mykonos attractions along with Little Venice. For many centuries the mills used to refine grain with the help of the high winds that blow on the island.

Another must-see is Little Venice, a neighborhood with colorful houses built right on the edge of the sea. You’ll be charmed by this aptly named spot due to its resemblance to Venice, Italy. The houses have been turned into elegant bars and restaurants and are among the best places in town to watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail.

HONEYMOON: Serene Desert Beauty in Carefree, AZ

November 5, 2019 by An Ion Creative Leave a Comment

HONEYMOON: Serene Desert Beauty in Carefree, AZ

Looking to honeymoon in the good ‘ole USA? We suggest the lighthearted town of Carefree, Arizona, set amid the high desert just north of Phoenix. Not only is it achingly gorgeous with sweeping desert views and insane mountain vistas but it also has a fun mix of super friendly residents, abundant art, amazing architecture and loads of charm. Soak in the majesty of the Southwest with your Bae. You can bask in each other’s glow while watching epic sunsets. And ya’ll can hike through a landscape so beautiful it doesn’t even look real:

As the name suggests, this is a special place, with a relaxed vibe. This is the town where you can shelf all your responsibilities and truly be carefree! Embrace the name and dance in the desert, eat and drink with abandon, sleep as late you want. Begin your life together with a honeymoon in this joyful town!

WHERE TO STAY

Our top pick for your honeymoon accommodation is an award-winning and chic wellness resort in Carefree, CIVANA, that offers serious desert vibes plus a regenerating experience to those seeking a serene and healthy get-away. Everywhere your eyes land at this resort is just plain gorgeous: from the clean-lined architecture to the lush gardens to the big, blue sky overhead. Your honeymoon photos will be so Insta-ready! Enjoy their two restaurants, pool, spa, and swanky, swanky rooms.

You can also find spectacular condos and houses for rent. We love this charming Casita, which averages $128 per night and boasts a pool, a fire pit to toast marshmallows in, and lots of luxurious touches:

THINGS TO DO

Carefree has an array of fun activities for you two to enjoy at your leisure. It is a wonderful place to enjoy the beautiful outdoors, like say a desert hiking adventure, a jeep tour to an old gold mine, or a hot air balloon ride. Number one on our to-do list though is some mega-chilling at a spa. We think you should indulge in a muscle-melting, and deeply relaxing couple’s massage at CIVANA before doing anything else. Go ahead, you deserve it.

Their spa is calming and lovely:

We are digging their healing crystals.

This is gonna be you:

After you are utterly relaxed from your spa visit you’ll be ready to see more of what Carefree has to offer. Make time to visit the Carefree Desert Gardens to see an astounding array of cacti in every shade of green:

Stop by the one-of-a-kind Carefree Sundial, one of the largest sundials in the US which marks the time by day and the North Star by night:

Stroll the boutique district, along East Street and Ho Hum Road, to visit the wonderfully eclectic mix of art galleries, shops, and boutiques.

Wild Holly Gallery

Meander through this bohemian gallery and enjoy the artwork of more than 95 artists in a stunning array of different art mediums and styles.

Adelante Art Gallery

Also stop by Adelante Art Gallery which showcases paintings, sculptures, and jewelry by local and international folk and fine artists.

WHERE TO EAT

Nothing says “honeymoon” like fine dining. Carefree boasts a ton of fabulous food options with loads of local flavor and international flair. Ex-pats from around the world seem to have settled in town and opened restaurants.

Alberto Ristorante

Alberto left his native Rome to live in Carefree. His Ristorante has a yummy selection of hand-prepared Italian dishes served up in a non-pretentious atmosphere. We love that Alberto greets all of his guests and makes everyone feel like part of the family. Don’t skip the bread, it is made daily from his very own recipe. And, allow Alberto to suggest the perfect wine for your meal from his extensive wine list, and after dinner enjoy one of his rare Armagnacs or Cognacs as well. Expensive, but well worth it. You’ll be reminiscing for years about that great meal you shared on your honeymoon.

English Rose Tea Room

A perfect spot for an afternoon tea or authentic British lunch, the English Rose Tea Room is a true gem in the desert. When Jo Gemmill immigrated from England she simply could not find herself a decent cup of tea in town. So she decided to open a tea room with an interior to rival the Ritz Hotel and a romantic, shady patio for tea al fresco. From scones and crumpets to cottage pie or a Ploughman’s lunch, you are guaranteed a culinary experience to remember. We’re ordering “The Duchess of Bedford’s Formal Afternoon Tea,” which consists of a variety of tea sandwiches, warm scones, petite fours and a pot of tea:

Carefree has a way of sweeping you off your feet. It is a place you’ll want to stay, long after your honeymoon is over. But even if you have to leave you’ll take your memories of your time on Easy Street with you.

HONEYMOON: Venice, A City of Untold Romance

September 6, 2018 by An Ion Creative Leave a Comment

Are you looking for a honeymoon destination that will deliver romance on a grand scale? We suggest the magical, achingly beautiful, utterly romantic city of Venice! Steeped in history, culture, and beauty this is a place which has only a single road, but hundreds of scenic water canals lined with stunning Renaissance and Gothic palaces. This gem in northern Italy is constructed entirely upon more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. Every journey around town is a fairy tale moment, every meal is a memory, every view a feast for the eyes.

You’ll want to stay at least three days to truly experience the charms of Venice. Once you arrive, though, you’ll never want to leave. Schedule your visit during the months of September to November and you can experience the wonder without fighting crowds or paying premium prices for your hotel. The temperature can range from the upper 30s to the mid 70s during this time so you’ll need to pack some layers.

Where to Stay:

Our top pick for where to stay in Venice is the Hotel Canal Grande. This former noble residence is an elegant boutique hotel which faces onto the Grand Canal and overlooks a picturesque Venetian square. Situated just a few minutes from the Santa Lucia train station and Piazzale Roma, the Hotel Canal Grande is the ideal starting point for reaching all of the city’s most renowned sites. You can book here for about $200 per night.

Stay here and you will be enveloped in the magical atmosphere of ancient Venice just as if you traveled back in time. The hotel is loaded with items from a more luxurious era: rich fabrics, gilded mirrors, Murano glass, furniture decorated with gold leaf and gorgeous Rezzonico wood floors. You will be completely immersed in the atmosphere of 18th century Venice, but with every modern convenience (like Wi-Fi, Room Service, and Satellite TV) at your fingertips.

Oh, and the Hotel Canal Grande features its own private dock so you can quickly arrive and depart by private water taxi or gondola.

What to See:

When you are in a city such as Venice, where everywhere you look is breathtaking, you can simply just be there and be supremely satisfied. However, there are a few amazing places you will want to make time to enjoy.

Start at the Piazza San Marco. This square is the central point of the city and is the only”piazza” in Venice; the other squares are called “campi.” This is a pedestrian-only zone and visitors can enjoy the open space, outdoor cafes, and shops beneath the surrounding covered arcades. Be sure to try the famous Caffe Florian. The square is also renowned for its multitude of pigeons, but don’t feed them, it’s illegal. At the end of the square, you’ll find the Grand Canal and the mooring area for Venetian gondolas.

Piazza San Marco

We recommend Alex Hai Gondola Tours for exploring all of Venice via the picturesque waterways.

Venice’s main street, Merceria, leads onto the square through the arch in Saint Mark’s Clocktower.

Saint Mark’s Clocktower

You will have to visit the Basilica di San Marco, the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice located at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco. It is the most famous of the city’s churches and one of the best-known examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture. Since the 11th century, the astoundingly beautiful building has been called the “church of gold” for its opulent design, gold ground mosaics, and its status as a symbol of Venetian wealth and power.

Ponte di Rialto or The Rialto Bridge is the heart of Venice, and it is the oldest bridge spanning the Grand Canal. This is a great bridge to share a kiss under!

There are so many other attractions to experience in Venice as well. Go there and it will take you places you’ve never dreamed of. Ancient palaces, historic churches, romantic restaurants, chic shops, fishing islands, museums, charming squares are all at your disposal. Wherever Venice leads you, you will leave with memories to last a lifetime.

From the most cliched experiences to the surreal moments, a honeymoon spent in Venice will provide the most romantic backdrop for everything you do. Be it kissing on a gondola ride or witnessing a romantic sunset, Venice has the capability of turning every ordinary moment into an extraordinary memory. We think Truman Capote perfectly captured the spirit of the place, when he famously said, “Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate in one go.”

HONEYMOON: Folly Beach #IslandVacay #theedgeofamerica

May 3, 2018 by An Ion Creative Leave a Comment

Looking for an island vacation on the US mainland for your upcoming honeymoon? Consider visiting funky-cool Folly Beach, SC, a quirky island located just 15 minutes from Charleston. This beautiful barrier island has a small town vibe with a sun-drenched, salt-in-your hair, flip-flop casualness. A place where the stunning natural beauty of the Atlantic Ocean combines with coastal Carolina charm. Where the living is easy, the surf is up and the fish are always biting. Where dolphins frolic and bald eagles soar, where million dollar beachfront mansions nestle next door to vintage beach shacks. Where a cast of interesting characters saunter down the one main street in town, Center Street. Where there is only one high rise hotel and the restaurants are locally owned and operated. A place free of billboards and office towers, but full of local dives and sandy beaches. Visit Folly once and you’ll be hooked. It will stay with you. During cold winter months you’ll think back to that perfect beach vacay you and your honey had: walking in the sand, grabbing a meal at Taco Boy, falling even more in love, soaking in that sunshine, and you will start making plans to return. Soon.

Locals have a rule they live by, “Relax..Slow Down.” Folly Beach, known as The Edge of America, is truly one of the most relaxing places on Earth. A place where you can escape the ordinary alongside a diverse culture of free-spirited people like the artists, skaters, musicians, surfers, and others who come to the island to live a laid back lifestyle. So this is a place where kicking back and chilling are a way of life. It is easy to join in, put your toes in the sand and take things nice and slow when you visit this eclectic, bohemian, small town.

All of the beaches on the island are next-level, but definitely check out the Folly Beach County Park, on the west end. This slice of paradise boasts 2,500 feet of ocean frontage and if you get there when it’s not busy you’ll feel like you are on your own private island. They offer picnic areas, and you can rent boogie boards, bikes and umbrellas.

Surfing is big on Folly and it is a major influence on the island culture. Folly, with the best waves on the East Coast, is the surfing mecca of South Carolina. Surfers can be found early in the morning riding the epic waves at The Washout or the Folly Beach Pier.

Local establishments predominate on the island, which makes visiting here so unique. You won’t be eating at Pizza Hut and shopping at Krogers on Folly. One of our favorite stops is Bert’s Market. This crazy cool shop is open 24/7 and serves food, snacks, surfboard wax, and grocery items to surfers, skaters, tourists, hipsters and locals alike. They have the best key lime pie in the entire world for $5.99 a slice, too. Spend some time hanging at Bert’s and you will be sure to people from all walks of life. One thing that unites the diverse types of people, though, will be their happy faces and awesome attitudes. This is a place where it is easy to be stress-free.

When it comes time to eat, you’ll want to be doing that in your new favorite restaurant: Taco Boy.  Their motto is “Skip Siesta, Let’s Fiesta,” and their delicious food is made fresh from mostly locally and regionally sourced products. We suggest you start with an Appetizer Trio which includes. Jalapeño tomato salsa, chile con queso & guacamole. Oh, and you’ll also be needing a Michelada: your favorite Mexican beer, served with house-made Sangrita-mix over ice with a salted rim. Don’t worry if you want to try everything on the menu, you’ll be back, you’ve got time.

You will also want to visit the Lost Dog Cafe, a place where locals and tourist meet and mingle. This casual beach cafe serves killer breakfast all day like huge burritos and bagel sandwiches along with extra good coffee.

You’ll need to visit the Folly Beach Pier, one of the longest piers on the east coast during the day AND in the evening. It’s a wonderful place to experience the ocean breezes, watch for dolphins, stroll around and just take in the spectacular views of the “Edge of America.” Officially named the “Edwin S. Taylor Folly Beach Fishing Pier,” this structure offers some of the best saltwater fishing in the area. The pier is a breathtaking landmark that stretches 1,045 feet into the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

There are so many neat places to stay on Folly. Check VRBO and AirBnB for all types of rentals. The only beachfront hotel is Tides, a wonderful and chic place to stay, where it doesn’t matter if you “want to grab a surfboard and hang ten, or grab a cocktail and hang out.”

Folly Island offers something for everyone. You can be a beach bum, take a day trip into nearby Charleston, or be adventurous. You can kayak around Folly Beach and James Island, jet ski, parasail or ride a bicycle along Folly’s six miles of beachfront. Or you can rent a golf cart and just drive around at your leisure. Whatever you choose to do on your honeymoon, it will be an unforgettable experience on this little slice of heaven!

HONEYMOON: Las Vegas #DecadentFun #VegasHoneymoon #MoreisMore #Overthetop

October 11, 2017 by An Ion Creative Leave a Comment

Fun-loving honeymooners looking for a decadent, and excitement-filled vacay should consider Las Vegas. This is the perfect honeymooning locale if your vibe is the sizzling-hot, stay-up-all-night, live-life-to-the-fullest variety! VEGAS, the city that never sleeps, has, well, everything. Where else can you visit Paris, Egypt AND Venice within a couple city blocks? Throw in an erupting volcano, pirate ships, show girls and pink flamingos and you’ve got yourself a trip to remember forever! And, in addition, this is a city that introduced the world to the pink cupcake ATM. Clearly, this is the most important site in town. You WILL be needing a Sprinkles cupcake at 4 am, and you can have one. In Vegas, “yes” is the answer to all your wants.

During your stay, be sure to stop by the 24-acre Paris Las Vegas to snap your pic atop the Eiffel Tower. This resort includes amazing replicas of not only the Eiffel Tower, but also the Arc de Triomphe, plus the facades of the Paris Opera House and the Louvre. So many selfie sites!! Grab some croissants at one of the 8 French eateries and then take a ride on the glass elevator up to the observation deck for a gorgeous, panoramic view of Las Vegas. C’est Bon!

The Luxor, a Vegas landmark resort, transports visitors to Egypt, where you can experience wonders such as a sphinx and a pyramid that shoots an intense beam of light into the night sky. A light that can be seen in space. Definitely another great photo op situation!

Every couple needs to take a romantic gondola ride. Preferably in Venice. But, hey, Vegas works too. Especially in the extraordinarily luxurious Venetian hotel. The hotel uses Venice, Italy, as its design inspiration and features architectural replicas of so many Venetian landmarks, including the Palazzo Ducale, Piazza San Marco, Piazzetta di San Marco, the Lion of Venice Column and the Column of Saint Theodore, St Mark’s Campanile, and the Rialto Bridge. Your honeymoon photo album is becoming quite impressive at this point, right?

If you do manage to catch some shut-eye, we suggest you do so in the fanciest, oozing-luxury-est, snazziest resort in town. The Bellagio. Sigh. The rarefied air of money is piped into this wonderland of awesomeness. And it feels so good to breathe it in. Plus they have a sky-high chocolate fountain, a spectacular fountain and an amazing art glass installation by Chihuly.

Oh, and an indoor conservatory of beauty. The nicest things in Vegas are free.

If you do wake up in Vegas, at any time of day or night, you can be sure to have amazing food. Todd English P.U.B. offers the world’s most overflowing Bloody Mary. Waffles are piled high with things like Thai Chicken. And EggSlut offers pillowy bricoche egg sandwiches so tasty folks stand in line for them.

Be sure to stop by the crazy-cool, retro Fremont East District where you’ll find old school casinos, showgirls randomly wandering the streets, an overhead light show, and block after block of neon lights. Oh, and a giant, fireball shooting, metal preying mantis.

Another fantastic thing about Vegas is the lovely desert landscape. If you need an escape into nature after all the glitz of town, just take a short drive to Red Rock Canyon.

Or, wander about an hour away to experience the Valley Of Fire. World-renowned for its 40,000 acres of bright red Aztec sandstone outcrops nestled in gray and tan limestone, Valley of Fire State Park contains ancient, petrified trees and petroglyphs dating back more than 2,000 years. Cool, huh?

Thirty-five miles to the south of town, you can visit the historic and awe-inspiring Hoover Dam

But the lure of excitement will surely draw you back to town. Where you can enjoy more of everything Vegas has to offer: An over-the-top exuberance! Lights! Action! Amazing Food! Sights To See! Gambling! Shows! 24/7 FUN! Fancy Hotels! Luxury! Decadence! Art! Entertainment!

All told, we think your favorite part of honeymooning in Las Vegas, won’t be the amazing sights and sounds you’ve soaked up. Nor will it be your winnings at the casino. (Although that WOULD be nice!) We are pretty sure your takeaway will be the amazing people you will meet along the way. Everyone is so friendly, from the cab drivers, valets, hotel staff, casino workers, waiters to the locals who are happy to strike up a conversation with you. They want to make sure you have the time of your lives while you are in their city. And they do. #VegasStrong
